Founded in 1992, the George Bacovia University of Bacău has played an essential role in shaping the trajectory of the local community, raising the status of the city of Bacău to the level of an outstanding center of higher education that promotes excellence in education and research. At the completion of 32 years of existence, the University is proud of its more than 15,000 graduates in the fields of economics, law and public administration, at bachelor's and master's level, these representing a well-trained workforce professionally and appreciated at the local and national level.
The University's commitment to scientific research has crossed borders through collaborations with universities from more than 30 countries, thus becoming a guiding beacon of intellectual exchanges through the organization of conferences and the dissemination of acquired knowledge through the publication of scientific articles in journals and specialized volumes. At the same time, simultaneously with the increase the reputation of our institution, the fulfillment of this commitment has also facilitated a rich intercultural dialogue, thus contributing to the global progress of knowledge in the fields under research.
In the context of the Scientific Manifestations of the "George Bacovia" University in Bacau, the International Conference "Deviance and Criminality. Evolution, Trends and Perspectives - DECRET" represents an event organized with the aim of encouraging and strengthening research and analysis activity, in order to identify the most effective and efficient ways to prevent and combat the multiple and complex forms of deviance and delinquency, while offering an academic framework suitable for proactive scientific exploration and the exchange of ideas in the area of topics of major interest regarding the prevention of all forms of crime.
DECRET International Conference aims to bring together leading scientists, researchers and practitioners to make a useful exchange of information and share experiences and results of their work. As a result, providing an excellent platform for discussions, the DECRET conference aims to improve knowledge and understanding of crime phenomena by inter- and transdisciplinary approach to complex issues related to crimes, offenders, crime phenomena, victims and society's reaction against crime. Also, the conference aims to reduce the gap between academic research and the practical implementation of preventive solutions, applicable in real contexts differents.
The objectives of the DECRET conference aim at important aspects regarding:
supporting inter-institutional collaboration at national and international level, to facilitate meetings and debates between specialists, in order to identify good practices, innovative ideas and new approaches, with the aim of exchanging experience, taking over and applying know-how, as well as of achieving thematic convergence between scientific research and practical aspects in the field of deviance and crime;
promoting and strengthening scientific research focused on theoretical and practical aspects of everyday life, through collaboration between the academic and professional environments in the field of deviance and crime, from a political, juridical, economic, social, psychological, ethical, cultural and medico-legal perspective etc.;
the establishment of an organized and stimulating academic and institutional framework for debates and the development of interdisciplinary research of national and international impact, which will make the connection between different research themes in the field of deviance and the methods of investigating antisocial phenomena;
identifying the evolution, trends and perspectives of national and cross-border, European and international forms of deviance and crime in order to bring scientific research closer to the practical activity of institutions and organizations involved in preventing and combating antisocial phenomena;
analyzing the practices and experiences that offer the best results and opportunities to the process of preventing criminal phenomena, in conexio to their national and European realities;
information on important changes on a national, European and international level in the field of preventing and combating deviance and crime, as well as debating future scenarios specific to this field, from a national and European perspective;
the publication of the relevant materials presented in the conference, as appropriate, in a volume of the conference DECRET at a Romanian prestigious publishing house or in the Acta Universitatis George Bacovia.Juridica Magazine, indexed in the following international databases (BDI): SCIPIO - Scientific Publishing Information Online, C.E.E.O.L., EBSCO and ProQuest;
Considering the specifics and objectives of the conference, as in previous years, an important event organized within the DECRET Conference is the "Prevent Alley", dedicated to informing conference participants about the actions and activities carried out by all public authorities with an important role in preventing and combating the phenomena of delinquency and deviance. As a rule, all local authorities involved in preventive activities participate in this event held in the halls of the University: police, gendarmes, firefighters, anti-drug, anti-corruption, penitentiaries, etc.
